Why You Should Celebrate the Good Things!

As a culture, we often forget to celebrate the good things in our life! And gratitude helps us to remember that we’re lucky to have what we have. And money is no exception. How do you feel about money? Do you celebrate the wins? And what exactly should you be celebrating?

In my view – we should celebrate everything!

Maybe a pay rise.

The discount at the checkout.

A reduction in your mortgage interest.

Or perhaps something a little bigger?

A Lotto win.

A surprise windfall payment.

A gift of hard cold cash on your birthday.

We focus a lot on the surprise bonuses, but we receive value in the form of money all the time. If you keep an eye on your bank account, you may find all sorts of tiny wins as well as big or medium ones!

How about the little wins?

Pay going into your bank account.

Interest earned on savings accounts!

That $10 discount on groceries due to points.

Are you celebrating these too?

The law of attraction states that when we celebrate and have a positive emotion towards something, it is more likely to happen again. We want to have an abundant mindset when it comes to money, so that we attract more money!

And there’s nothing wrong with thinking about your cash with affection, engagement, or curiosity. When we’re positive and open about money, we find more opportunities for abundance and income. We talk about it more excitedly, people are drawn to that positive mindset, and you never know what might happen!

If you log into your bank and all you think is that you don’t have enough, then this negativity hangs around. And will keep reinforcing itself to you. Have you ever noticed that you receive a windfall and then your washing machine dies? Or you get an unexpected refund and an unexpected bill pops up? Fridges in particular are famous for hearing out for when you’re expecting a tax return, and cars too.

If you’re feeling stressed, miserable and dreadful about money, be careful you might be drawing more of those emotions rather than fixing them.

Mindset is the key to changing the way you think about your money. One of the ways we can start improving our money relationship is with mantras and practice.

There’s a few mantras you can try:

  • There’s always more money.
  • Money loves coming into my bank account.
  • Thank you for this deposit (when scrolling your bank account transactions)

Create your own mantras, specific to your situation. And remember to celebrate! Happiness and joy bring more happiness and joy to you – in life and in finances!

What to Do with Negative Nancy

Sometimes being negative about money services an emotional need within you or your partner. There may be a safety in feeling the same way you have always felt, or perhaps you’ve learned somewhere that having money is unsafe, or dangerous. When these negative emotions pop up, remember to be empathic, understand, and feel them. Then let them go and make decisions based on the new you instead.

Here’s a handy chart to suggest some ways you can navigate the Negative Nancy in your life.

Saying Response
Well that was money down the drain.  That’s fair, but how can we put a plug in it so it doesn’t happen next time?
Money doesn’t grow on trees We are choosing to spend our money on something else right now.
